Yes, absolutely. I can contribute to efforts to control major epidemics, such as the SARS epidemic in 2003 and the West African Ebola epidemic in 2014-16.

Probably, yes. Although, I’d put a lot more time and effort into identifying what the career is really about (the good and the bad) and how I could best contribute.

I think so. I am interested in the stuff that I work on, so if I wasn’t doing this exact job, I’d be working on similar things somewhere else.

I think I might have come to the same point but via a different route! If I could go back and train in medicine first and then become a researcher I think that would have been a good choice for me!

Well I’d definitely be a scientist. I don’t know which area I’d end up in – I think a lot depends on where the funding is when you’re looking for the next step. It depends on what new technology is out, what progress is being made and what has the public interest. I suspect I’d still be in medical physics somewhere.

      Probably yes.
I spent most of my career as a pathologist. That gave a nice mix of medicine, science and teaching.
I’d have liked to do a lot more acting but I wasn’t good enough and couldn’t handle the uncertainty. But now I’m mostly retired I’m catching up as fast as I can…
Whatever I did I’m pretty sure I’d have been interested in science and technology.
