I live with my girlfriend in Bristol. I have lived in Bristol all my life but I have done some extensive travelling, having visited around 30 different countries. We have a dog, Jack Russell Terrier, called Fifi. She is a rescue dog. And a bright white cockatiel called Oscar. I love playing sport including football and golf. My partner and I never miss an episode of the Walking Dead or Game of Thrones.

I have worked here for 6 years. I typically work in the Trace Metals lab however I as can also work in the General Chemistry area or Sludge’s and soils. In the trace metals lab, I run two ICP-MS thermo X-series 2 instruments to analyse potable samples for extremely low level of metals that are required by the DWD 1998 e.g Lead, Iron, Copper etc. I am an method holder for Biochemical Oxygen Demand in waste waters and trade effluents, therefore it is my responsible to continually review the SOP and quality control data. I have also recently validated two automated Chemical Oxygen Demand instruments which will be going live very soon!

As an active person I am never happy sitting down until the end of the day where I can chill out with my family. If I am not working, I am going to the gym or taking the dog for long walks. I also love spending time with the cockatiel in the evenings after work, as he is extremely loving.
A typical work day consists of setting up the instrument in the morning, creating several batches of samples to run and dispensing them. I also have to throw away the previous days samples, then finally report all my results at the end of the day.
