I’m looking for a way to successfuly freeze cells, tissues and organs so we can keep them longer and ensure they can be successfully transfused or transplanted.
My Typical Day
Feed the cat, then feed myself. Cycle to work, check on my growing cells before running experiments in the lab, occassionally a little bit of teaching and finally a session at the gym picking up heavy things with my friends before I go to bed, ready to start again!.
What's the best part of your current job?
No two days are the same. It’s exciting and challenging
What's the best thing you've ever done in your career?
Be a guest on the naked scientist radio show!
What advice would you give someone who wants to be in the same career as you?
Go for it — it’s a little challenging, but it you keep at it, it is entirely worth it.
What do you see as your next step in your career?
I’d like to be a research leader, have a group of people working with me, researching a single topic and lecturing.
What other sorts of jobs can you do with your qualifications?
Almost anything. Pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, nuclear engineering, product design, chemical synthesis, if we have to mass produce it, a chemical engineer can be involved in it.
What don't you like about your current job?
Sometimes, I just can’t find the answers!
