I started working at Newcastle University while I was studying for my PhD. At first, I was a demonstrator that helped new students learn how different bits of lab equipment works and how to do their own experiments. When I finished my PhD, I stayed at Newcastle to do a some extra research, trying to find new ways to uncover the triggers behind different diseases such as premature ageing, Parkinson’s disease and chronic tiredness. Now my job at the university is mainly focused on teaching. I lead a few different topics in the School of Biomedical Sciences, including a Practical Skills course, some Pharmacology learning and our Science Communication course for our third year students.
