No, luckily not! I know someone who dropped a very expensive part of the MRI scanner on the floor, and that needed replacing. They really didn’t mean to do it, and they are usually very careful, so there is insurance to cover that kind of thing!
We have to test new MRI scans on really sensitive testing equipment first to make sure that they are safe for people, so things very rarely go wrong as long as we’re following protocol.
