Hello, my favourite sport was hockey, but I also played netball and football, rounders and did athletics. I started playing football when I was 6 then stopped about age 13 and took up netball and hockey. I love sports!

I’m afraid I hated sports at school. I enjoyed doing things after school (when I was 17 I organised a cycling trip across the south of Sweden, we covered over 450 km!), but gym classes were a nightmare. Still, when I went to uni I became a competitive ballroom dancer, and I trained up to 20h a week for my competitions. That was fun!

      Hi RoryHowell1,

I never really liked our sports classes, except the ones where we played dodgeball. However, I played volleyball for several years in our school team (not that I was necessarily any good at it).

      What about you? 🙂

I liked some and not others. My favourite was badminton, which we didn’t do for long – but I played at uni too (just with friends) and still do sometimes (with work people, for fun!).

I also enjoyed field hockey, tennis, and some of the athletics stuff. I’m not super-sporty but I don’t completely shun it either. It’s great to stay active after school.

I wasn’t really a fan of sport at school I’m afraid. I guess I quite liked dodge ball and dance as it meant that we didn’t have to go outside and get wet and muddy. Since going to university, though, I now do lots of swimming and trampolining to keep fit!

      Hey Rory,
I played Hockey and Rugby at school, and I think Rugby was my favourite. The school team had a couple of county players on it, and one time we beat a local private school 74-0, that was a good day 😀

My favourite sport at school was basketball. I still play it actually. I played a lot of basketball at school. I also played several other sports every so often (Gaelic football, soccer, …) – in some cases to miss some class – but mostly as I like doing sport.

Actually I don’t think the skills learned during sport should be underestimated – discipline and dedication to learn a skill, and teamwork. Both are very important life skills that you can’t learn from studying. In any job you can’t work with people who either (a) don’t know what they’re doing, or (b) know what they’re doing but can’t work as part of a team. Oh ya – and it’s good for your health and brain to exercise and great for work-life balance and stress management.

What sports do you all enjoy doing?

      Hi,

My favourite sport at school was netball, even though the school team I was on never beat other schools!

I hated sport at school, I got very good at jogging along just behind everyone else so there was no danger of ever having to do anything with the ball. Outside school I used to do fencing, I actually made it to national competition level but quit when I went to university – the univ. club were insistent that you had to do x amount of practice a week and try out for things like the olympic squad, I only ever did it for fun and didn’t really care whether I won or lost.

I’m still a sports hater – I never pay any attention to it in the media ( I can’t even name a footballer ) but I keep myself fit, I used to do trapeze until I had a neck op in January
