I don’t usually do the data collection – my job is data analysis. So if data are being recorded on people who get sick, how old they are, when they got sick, symptoms, where they live etc – then analysis can show how the disease has spread and sometime show how things will go in future. Analyses can identify high risk groups that can be prioritized for vaccination or demonstrate that particular behaviours make getting infected more likely.
