Question: on a scale of 1-10, how much do you like trains

About 5. I travel on them a lot and I work with them but I’m not a spotter. I work in this industry because it is complicated, interesting and has an impact on people’s day to day lives. I enjoy doing it. I think I would also probably enjoy working in other areas such as medical engineering, aircraft or nuclear power.

Haha! Had to answer this one as I have a 2.5 year old train nerd at home. I’d give them a solid ten for making him unbelievably happy, and keeping him out of mischief whenever he’s watching or playing with them. I get the train into work every day and would not always rate them highly… I’m glad there are still people working to improve them! Any chance you could work some magic in Leeds, Andy? Automatic trains seem a long way off on my line!
