I am currently looking at white dwarfs, those are stars that have used up all their fuel and ‘died’ leaving a very small and dense core (centre) of the original star. These are very interesting because there is still a lot happening around them. I’m specifically looking at white dwarfs that have bits of planets and asteroids/comets still orbiting around them and they can sometimes hit the white dwarf and we aren’t quite sure about how this physically works. I am using a computer to simulate small rocks hitting a white dwarf to see how it happens!.

I am trying to organise a review of the literature to look at how young people with ongoing pain think about romantic relationships (as opposed to friendships etc). We know this can be a tricky problem but there is no good review of this.

I am also interested in the overlap between mental health and ongoing pain in young people as well as looking at how can better understand the developmental challenges that young people with ongoing pain face. I have PhD students working in these areas as I am so fascinated by them!
