Data Science seems to be a popular choice right now. It includes the knowledge of statistics and programming. You are given a large array of numbers and a task of figuring out interesting trends, and whether those can be applied to future.

Lots of work in artificial intelligence is well-paid. You’d need a good grasp of maths and programming again.

Pharmaceuticals, and chemical engineering seems to be up there as well.

If you do a science degree you have lots of options because it teaches you how to problem solve and work independently. You can take those skills into lots of jobs that have high salaries such as consulting or pharmaceuticals. Research scientists don’t generally earn all that much money, but if you find something interesting you could always start up your own company, which can lead to a high salary. Alternatively becoming a medical doctor and then specialising is a great way to keep science in your day-to-day life.

Try this article in the Guardian which links to the national statistics: https://www.theguardian.com/money/2016/oct/31/highest-paid-jobs-2016-ons-annual-survey-hours-earnings
NB In some of those only a few get to the top of the tree…

People with biostatistics degrees like me probably earn more in drug companies but I love the academic freedom of working in a university and the pay is enough to live comfortably so I don’t regret my decision.
