My name is Kayleigh, I am from Yorkshire originally and moved down South to go to Oxford Brookes University to study Motorsports Engineering. After graduating from uni it took me about 6 months to get an engineering job, which was a 3 month temporary role at what was then Renault F1 Team.
6 and a half years later I’m still working for the same team, the company has gone from Renault F1 Team to Lotus F1 Team and back to Renault Sport Racing in that time!
I’ve loved F1 for as long as I can remember, along with Neighbours and minis!

I work as part of the Performance Optimisation team with two other people, we use computer software to simulate the car racing a lap. We change different parts on the car in the software, to find out which bit of suspension or bodywork gives the quickest laptime. We give this information to the race engineers who decide on the best setup to use.
During race weekends we offer support from the factory so it can mean working in funny time zones for a couple of days.
-
My Typical Day:
Typical days involve our simulation software!

Most of my time involves using the laptime simulation software, and writing reports to show the results. I attend meetings to keep up to date with colleagues, but the main way to communicate is by email, so I spend some time every day dealing with my inbox!
